Been a little bit. I finally moved to Norway and have settled. Been writing a lot and reading a lot too. I sold another story. “SHARDS IN THE SAND” features in Savage Realms Monthly #15, and you can grab yourself an eBook copy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BGX71KKL?notRedirectToSDP=1&ref_=dbs_mng_calw_14&storeType=ebooks or physical: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGN8XWXB?&linkCode=sl1&tag=wmiller314-20&linkId=8829622b9ba2fa071c48ac092a936bf1&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

Spent the weekend in the mountains cutting enough firewood for the cabin for the next two years. It was hard work, a good six-hour slog, but waking up to views like that (see picture) each morning made it all worth it. I also took part in #PitDark and learned just how hectic that can be. I found it beneficial to see how the event worked but am unsure if I’ll participate next time around.

I’ve been on a bit of a McCarthy binge in the build-up to THE PASSENGER, which was released yesterday. His first novel in 16 years. Whilst waiting for my copy to arrive, I churned through OUTER DARK and am currently working my way through THE BORDER TRILOGY. It’s no news to anyone that McCarthy’s writing is bleak. Not always and not only, but the world in which these stories coalesce is often one with a one-track mind: annihilation. In every form. Annihilation of life or relationships or thought. It’s been good to habituate with that kind of narrative whilst I write my current work in progress, something very different from the novel I am currently querying, and rightly so. Every story is different, every work requires its own set of tools, regardless of the writer's voice or style.

As for now, the song remains the same. Still writing. Still reading. Still sending out those agent queries.

Until next time. (Sooner rather than later).

Cheers.
